Q. What does Competency-Based mean? A. This means that there is not a required number of hours you must attend the school to receive your degree. "Competency" is achieved when you can demonstrate an adequate ability and knowledge in the field through written tests and practical applications. Although there is not a required number of hours, there is a maximum number of hours allowed to achieve the "Competent" status.
Q. What if I have completed my course, but for some reason need more hours? (i.e. the state I am moving to needs more hours) A. There are a limited number of scholarships available that would provide additional hours at no charge. Ask your instructor how you could qualify for one of these scholarships.
Q. Can I schedule a Tour of the School? A. Yes, please call us to schedule a tour. We highly recommend it! (503) 238-1793.
Q. How can I know a school is right for me? A. A good way to determine what will be covered in the course is to:
have a service done by one of students.
Also, review the menu of services- if it is on the menu, you will be taught how to perform that service.
Ask the school administrator/instructor how much time is spent on practical applications of those services.
Q. How many instructors will I have throughout my duration at the school? A. Three instructors are available to you throughout your training with at least 2 available at any time. We also bring in guest instructors on occasion.
Q. Do you offer financial aid? A. Yes, we offer financial aid through SLM Financial, a SallieMae company. Click here for more information.
Q. What is the major difference between the Aesthetics Institute and other schools? A. Our motto, "Students do not just become Graduates, they become Professionals" says a lot about how we are different. The wealth of information that is available to that Aesthetics Institute student is uncommonly found at this level of institution. The AI graduate will have a working knowledge through practical applications conducted at the Institute, not just a theoretical overview and a few applications. The AI graduate is among the best in the field and sometimes even placed directly in management positions. The high quality of an Aesthetics Institute certification is recognized throughout the industry.
Q. What role do product manufactures play in your curriculum? A. Some schools base their instruction on the product line's way of conducting the service, thus limiting the student's ability to adapt in other environments. At the Aesthetics Institute, we teach procedures based on science behind the service rather than the theory of any one product line. We do this because our goal is that our graduate will be able to go anywhere and use any product line and work proficiently with it.
